If you think that accounting jobs represent some of the lower-paid positions in the finance industry, you need to think again. A recent eFinancialCareers report – sourced from an analysis of information from both the Robert Walters and Robert Half firms – illustrated that many accounting positions can bring with them salaries comparable to technology jobs and other high-paid finance careers.
Many of the accounting jobs listed by eFinancialCareers are actually outside the United States. For example, product controllers, internal auditors, and regulatory reporting professionals in London, with five to eight years of experience, can all earn more up to or more than $200,000, according to the analysis of the Robert Half data.
However, the top-paying accounting position found by the firm resides in the USA. According to eFinancialCareers, the best possible accounting jobs are in New York City, as the vice president of product control in a bank at that location can earn as much as $220,000 per year.
Where technology jobs and accounting jobs intersect
Another recent report from Entreprenuer.com, analyzing the results of a recent Freelancer.com report, found that one of the most in-demand job positions within the tech field is actually related to accountants. According to the report, there has been a major increase in the demand for freelance accountants within the tech field in the past few months.
In fact, the Freelancer.com study found that the number of accounting jobs listed on that website jumped up by more than 26 percent in the first quarter of 2014 alone. So finance professionals unsure of which positions they want to apply for may want to consider the prospect of working accounting jobs in the near-future: not only do these jobs offer a road toward high salaries, they are also currently in-demand.
